about

After a two and half year wait, Akashic Record with support from Ropeadope Records is proud to release their third studio album "Bring It Back!" in June of 2013. The funk unit from Boston, MA once again recorded with master engineer Craig "Dub Fader" Welsch but also brought in a true master of funk Alan Evans (Soulive), to mix 10 new tracks of soulful funk music. While the album is still driven by the sound of the Hammond organ and each song features virtuoso solos by members of the band, "Bring It Back!" has a new focus on song writing and groove. The first track "Dive" is heavily influenced by the riffs of the Meters, while "The Truth Will Stand" pays homage to the go-go funk hailing from D.C. in the 1980's. "Soul On Fire" features moog and clav sounds inspired by 1970's George Duke and "Fellowship" draws a connection between jazz and afrobeat from Fela Kuti.

"Bring It Back!" features Brian Thomas (trombone), Jared SIms (saxophones), Beau Sasser (organ/clav/moog), Steve Fell (Guitar), and Peter MacLean (drums/percussion). Special guests include Eric Bloom (trumpet), Jeffrey Lockhart (guitar), Alan Evans (guitar).
